Located on the summit of Mount Wilson above Pasadena at an altitude of 5715 feet, Mount Wilson Observatory is a must visit place if you’re around.
Visitors can view the historic Hooker 100-inch telescope, free of cost.

We highly recommend their weekend tours available between 30th March and 29th November. They run for a couple of hours and offer entrance into both the 60-inch and 100-inch telescope domes, as well as the observing room of the 150-foot Solar Tower Telescope.
There’s also Cosmic Café located in the Pavilion. As a hiker or biker, you’ll enjoy it as your destination. 10/10 recommended.
Disclaimer: Since the elevation stands high at ~5k feet and the tour is two-hour long, it isn’t suited for individuals with respiratory or heart problems and with low mobility.
