Founder of AI software Explosion, Ines Montani recently jotted down her recommendations for anyone looking to get started with front end development, CSS, APIs, UI etc.

– APIs: To learn modern framework for building REST APIs, check out FastAPI. It is easy to use and learn, is fast, is powered by type hints and comes with auto-generated docs.

– CSS: Follow a little pedantic approach by understanding the underlying concepts and focusing on layouts and styling both. This makes CSS more approachable. Here’s a great resource.

– CSS Layout: This site’s mission is to teach you how to better harness the built-in algos that power browsers and CSS.

– UI design: Refactoring UI is a go-to resource for the best UI practices.

– React: You should start with the intuitive latest practices. React for Beginners offers an intensive step-by-step course.

– Live editor: Use Codepen to make your life easy. You get to edit HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and add dependencies like React in your browser live.
