If the claim that healthy eating could be the key to a longer life seems too convenient to you, you’d be pleased to know it is further backed by scientific evidence.

Pomegranate contains ellagitannins.

On ingestion, they are converted into a compound called urolithin A in the gut.

This compound can slow down the aging process.

Now, not everyone produces this compound naturally and so, researchers synthesized the compound to make sure all participants in the experiment got an equal dose.

The human trial was a success and it has been established that UA stimulates mitochondrial biogenesis- which basically means it helps slow down the ageing process.
